After 8 years leading the FairTrade Designers brand, which was born in 2007, its founders, industrial designers Pil Bredahl, Liselotte Risell and Henriette Melchiorsen, could not be more proud of their company. They’ve managed to get their eminently social mission of promoting the controlled production of handcrafted product desing in countries like China, Ghana or Zimbabwe, to have a small portion of the huge pie of global consumption.
Their pieces, made by local craftsmen from these countries, offer both a huge operational effort as well as a contemporary and versatile design which they themselves control as the visible head of this company.
Mainly because one has to choose and make an effort if you want to get people involved by purchasing your products. They are working to increase revenue to help improve the lifes of millions of people living in extreme situations and to raise collective awareness of the regrettable situation of this people
“We monitor everything from the design to the distribution of the products to ensure that it all comes to fruition”.
But this doesn’t mean that they are controlling. They are willing to let ideas flow in the best possible way and to listen to any suggestions to improve as a brand and as a company. So there you go, if you would like to help, all you have ti do is go on their website and send your suggestions. A great idea with a great future.
